Sex: M- Bio: he entered the Carmelite monastery in Haarlem before 1455, where in 1476 he became a prior. In the years 1479-1480 he was prior of the Carmelites in Woudsend. Back in Haarlem in 1495, he became supprior. He died probably in 1504 in Haarlem, altough also 1525 is proposed(Roefs, 24-25, Ebels, 31). He had a relationship with the Lords of Brederode, whose chronicle he wrote.-Status author (order, function): Carmelite Friars (OCarm)

Johannes a Leydis also copied in 1491 the Speculum Historiale of Arnoldus Bostius (Vaernewijck), carmelite in Gent (1445-1499)(Milaan, Biblioteca Brera AE XII, 22). See for his theological works: I. Rosier, Biographisch en bibliografisch overzicht van de vroomheid in de Nederlandse Carmel.
