ABSTRACT
Dutch biography of St. Catherine of Alexandria (about 307 +). She was a young convert who was forced by emperor Maxentius to renounce her faith. She refused his demand and converted fifty imperial philosophers instead. Catherine was tortured and sentenced to death. Nevertheless, the efforts to kill her were thwarted each time by a miraculous power. Thus Catherine was spared from death on the wheel by a bolt of lightning that shattered the tool. Finally, she was beheaded. According to legend milk flowed from her wounds.
