ABSTRACT
Text written in St Augustine's abbey, Canterbury. The monks of St Augustine's abbey claimed to possess the relics of St Mildreda, second abbess of Minster-in-Thanet (c. 691-700), since 1030, and resisted the canons of St Gregory's priory in Canterbury, who claimed to possess the relics of St Mildreda and St Eadburga, her successor, since c. 1087/8. According to the canons of St Gergory's priory, the relics were buried in Lyminge (Kent), not in Minster-in-Thanet. Archbishop Lanfranc should have brought the relics to their priory in 1085.
