Now, Herigerus is generally acknowledged as the author (see for example Kurth, 1905). Dierkens, however, disputes this, according to him the work has to be atributed to an anonymous author of the eleventh century (Dierkens, 1980). Sex: M- Bio: (NaSo H027): According to Dierkens the Vita could have been written in the eleventh century by a canon of Saint-Lambert, this anonymous author could even be the bishop himself. (Dierkens, 2008)-Status author (order, function):

CONTEXT
According to Dierkens, the Vita was written in the eleventh century on account of the construction of the new Romanesque church (second half of the 11th century) or the fabrication of the shrine for Hadelin (first half of the 11th century) (Dierkens, 1980)
ABSTRACT
Biography of Saint Hadelin (7th century). He was a saint who originated from a noble house in Aquitaine. As a companion of Remacle, he founded an oratorium in Celles (close to Dinant). He performed several miracles at Franchimont and Dinant which strengthened his reputation. He had contact with Pepin of Herstal who gave him several goods. He acquired possessions in ‘Rustina’, Anthée (Onhaye) and Veltz (Mont-Saint-Hadelin). The bishop of Liège, probably Lambert, donated Franchimont to him (Dierkens, 1980). On his own request, Hadelin was buried in the church which he had founded at Celles (ca. 960)
