The 16th century miracle is only preserved in Mabillon's edition. During the reign of Count Dirk I of Holland (c. 916-928), St Adalbert's relics were transferred to a church, which perhaps was part of a nunnery founded by the count. During the reign of Count Dirk II (d. 988) the abbey of Egmond was founded, where St Adalbert was worshipped.
