ABSTRACT
Life of S. Blasius (+ca 316). He was bishop and physician of the city of Sebaste. According to legend Blasius lived in hiding for a long time in a nearby forest to escape the persecutions of Emperor Licinius. The saint lived peacefully among the wild animals who accompanied him, protected or even came to see him to be healed by him. By coincidence Blasius was caught by a group of Roman soldiers who were hunting. Eventually he was tortured to death after they had tried to drown him.
