Abridged version of the Chronique normande, dealing with the political and military history of the county of Flanders from 1296 till 1371. Untill c. 1345 this abridged version is quite similar to the original Chronique normande. From c. 1345 on, the author drops or abridges less important fragments. After 1349 the abridged chronicle only discusses events in Flanders. The Chronique normande abrégée was continued in many manuscripts (cfr. mss.). (Lambert 1988). According to H. Moranvillé, the Chronique normande and the Chronique normande abrégée are both revisions of a Flemish cronicle with interpolations concerning Normandy resp. Flanders (Tyl-Labory 1992).
