Sex: M- Bio: In the beginning of the 13th century his works were commissioned by Philip, count of Namur (+1212), and of Joanna of Constantinople, countess of Flanders and Hainault (+1244); he translated several Latin works. Wauchier de Denain was clerc at the court of Roger IV, châtelain of Lille (1st third of the 13th century). ABSTRACT
Life of the Saint Matin of Tours. He was born in Pannonia (Hungary), son of a Roman magistrate and like his father predestined to a military career. According to legend he met a poor beggar at the entry of the city of Amiens, to whom he gave half of his cloak. At night Christ appeared to him, dressed in that piece of his mantle. Afther this, he converted and left the army to become a pupil of St. Hilary, Bishop of Poitiers. Near Poitiers, in Ligugé, he lived for several years as a hermit and founded there the monastery Saint Martin. Eventually, he was elected as Bishop of Tours around 371, where he founded a second monastery in 375.
