ABSTRACT
15th century chronicle of the female Cistercian abbey of Valduc (Hertogendal). The chronicle starts with the foundation of the abbey c. 1230. Folio 1v? already deals with the 15th century. The chronicle holds information on the abbesses Heiburg van Bossuut (till 1402), Katelijne (+1420) and Geertrui (till 1460) van Goetsenhove, Elisabeth Baeten (+April 10th 1467), Margaretha Calaber (+may 24th 1495) and Heylwich Greeven. The chronicle also holds regular surveys of the monastic community, and includes information on building activities and trials, and biographical notes on the author, Joes van Dormael (including his involvement in the abbey's affairs). Much attention is also paid to the reformation of the abbey of Hertogendal, on December 10th 1460.
