Simon schreef een vervolg op de Gesta van de abten van Sint-Bertijns (OSB) van Folcuinus (645-962). In de proloog verontschuldigt hij zich omdat hij niets heeft kunnen vinden over het einde van de 10de eeuw en het begin van de 11de eeuw (6 abten). Het eerste boek beschrijft het abbatiaat van 4 abten (1021-1095), het tweede boek beslaat de periode 1095-1131, het laatste boek behandelt de eerte jaren van zijn opvolger Leo (1137-1145). De periode van zijn eigen abbatiaat laat hij achterwege. Deze lacune werd later aangevuld.
